Just a little feel for what the trail is like. About most things the brochures either lied or missed the point. They say it's steep -- and it sort of is -- but nothing outrageous. They say there's no shade, and that's flat out wrong. They fail to mention the obnoxious mule shit everywhere, much of it so ripe your eyes water. They also fail to mention how many people use it. A lot. And this is the 'road less travelled.' I don't even want to think about the traffic on the Bright Angel Trail. Not all of the trail is like this. Some is more level, some nearly straight, and some actually steeper. It's broken up nicely with different riffs so you don't get bored. Gotta note how different the colors are close up. Nothing dull here! |
