The next morning we headed down the South Kaibab trail to get a closer look at things. The red rock jutting up from the ridge to the right will turn out to be how far we get. That's something on the order of 1/4 to 1/3 of the way down. It was completely clear that day, and in the 70s. The cloud you see on the horizon is actually the fire seen in full daylight. Note also the colors are a bit more drab now. |
