Everybody says you have to go to the top of Mount Wellington when you're
in Hobart. Must do and all that. You don't even have to hike! Gotta
admit they're right even if the drive is a bit exciting in places, at
least for right-siders.
Apparently we weren't the only people to get this idea. But there was
plenty of parking and the view is terrific. Wellington is far above
any of the other mountains skirting Hobart, so you can see in any
direction you choose. Unfortunately, there was some haze that day.
Down to the right of the tourist platform is Hobart and Sandy Bay, where
we were staying. On the far side of the first ridge above the crowd is
the airport. The hazy distant land to the top right is the Tasman
Peninsula (Port Arthur et al).
