Here's the "Black Diamond" road you use to get down to Labyrinth Canyon. It's named, with some historic basis, the "Horsethief Trail." |
I think the upper picture gives the better impression, though the lower shows some detail better. There's nothing technically difficult about it at all. It's simply steep and narrow with sharp corners, and if you slip up, you die. I suppose it's that last part that earns it black diamond status, maybe just because some folks panic on roads like this. Not Ak; she was Over The Top and Let's Go from first glance. We stopped to shoot these pictures after I drove back up. We were in a bit of a hurry, though. Hungry, with barbecue at Fat City waiting for us. Yum! |
