An excellent illustration of the torque and rupturing forces that molded the Vishnu Schist. Because of all the seams, cracks and twists, it weathers in myriad strange ways. But it's not in the least crumbly -- it's very hard rock, which is why the inner gorge of the Canyon is so steep. You can see it a bit better when you get closer. Which we just had to do. |
