Things dried out a little and some roads were opening up, so we headed back just past the Pariah road to Wire Pass, which we had seen before. It's a very nice slot canyon that leads to another slot -- Buckskin Gulch -- that's reputed to be the longest in the world. The plan was to explore a bit in Buckskin, expecially upwater. But I had serious doubts that it would be dry enough. Nevertheless, it also gave us a chance to check the main road up through the Grand Staircase (still closed). As it turned out Buckskin was too wet, so all we got in the end was more pictures of Wire Pass. This is not tragic, since it's a great hike and the light was better than our last visit. |
