The whole area looks roughly like this, which is fairly spectacular of course. We have it on excellent authority (one of the Grand Staircase BLM Rangers) that this is Carmel Formation rock, common around the San Rafael Swell. In this area, the color striping is amazing. As you'll see. This photo and the last are a fair indication of the terrain on the way in. This sort of thing is actually visible from the road. |
