This is another of those charming BLM Badly Named Places. It's marked on the map as the road to the Pariah Movie Set, not far from the old Pariah ghost town. Apparently some goofy westerns were filmed there. The movie set has burned down, so what you can see of it is some old concrete footings. However, the road out is both scenic and fun -- highly recommended to anyone with a car more suitable than, say, a Cadillac. Though I'm sure some Caddys have made the trip, doing the whiteknuckle wheeldance. Some of the best parts of the road are too narrow to stop, so I couldn't get a photo. But this gives you a hint anyway. Plus, the views get better and better as you go. |
