Look at that fierce Devil! Well, cute anyway. They do have quite a bite
(much stronger than a pit bull) but it doesn't much matter. At their
top speed they can almost, maybe catch a determined chicken. They're
scavengers, not hunters (though our docent said he thought they considered
themselves 'pretty flash.') Their eyesight is quite poor but their
scent sense is remarkable.
They play a lot, never fight in ernest, and don't generally bite anything
that isn't already dead. To make the point, fearless leader stuck his
hand in this one's mouth, then dragged it around the pen by letting it
hold on with its teeth. Not so much as a bruise. When they try to run
they sort of waddle-lope. Don't know if they make good pets or not.
Ak was multithrilled to get to see one ... but we actually saw four or
five at various parts of the park. The adults are a bit more sullen but
not much larger.
