Truganini Monument

One of the many monuments to Truganini, the last of the Tasmanian aborigines. What with disease and helpful planning, they were entirely wiped out. For reasons perhaps clear to Tasmanians, something of a cult has grown up around Truganini and you'll see the odd mention here and there.
          This was Australia Day, which is a kind of low-key Fourth Of July. It's even set in their midsummer. But nobody else was there, though someone had put down some plants and rocks. Poignant, really, and a nice spot. There's a park surrounding it, mostly left in the natural state.
