Gardens between our wing and the rest of the hotel. They extend the
length of the wing and very much reminded me of Uncle Billy's on The
Big Island -- though Tasmania is bigger, but Hawaii is decidedly
wetter. Still, the same sort of excessive chic oozes from both.
Wrest Point is headed down the same path. The carpets are stained and
some hardware is showing age. But it just doesn't yet have enough
kitsch to be charming like Uncle Billy's. On the other hand, the staff
is at least as good, if not better. They're all nice as could be and
helpful to the point of conviction. Which is, after all, just kind of
'being Australian,' which Tasmanians seem to carry even further.
