Mission Peak is a fairly stiff climb of about 2000 feet elevation without much flat trail involved. It's also probably the most spectacular of east bay spots, partly because of the variable weather. It was fairly temperate on the way up, though we were in the fog most of the hike. But it was incredibly windy and cold. We spent quite a bit of time in the lee of some rocks. But the views were far more spectacular than even our best shots indicate. January 25, 2003. |
