In the picture on the previous page, she was looking at Owl Arch from the side, as you see it above. To her right would have been another, less conspicuous arch up a small canyon, looking about as you see it here. Quite the little valley, and close enough to the start to be a semicasual hiking destination (but heck, just drive -- any reasonable car could have made this part of the trip). Initially, Ak drove past this, but my occasionally workable mapreading skills negotiated us back. Never did find some other doodley landmark nearby, though. Ak had a blast spinning through a mud sump on the way in and out of the canyon. |
