At this point we have located the correct path to the portal (when you come to the signs, take the leftmost fork and stay left) having lost little time to scouting because Ak (as usual) had the correct hunch (I thought "go right," which was completely wrong. Her approach did take us to a 50-yard box canyon detour, but was otherwise dead on the money. I always defer to her in these things nowadays). We climbed the ridge and descended to the interior trail. Those obstacles cost us a little time, but not much. The land is starting to look weirder, and what she's looking at right now is downright screwy. |
