Public Art!

Some might call it tasteless. Some might think it a quaint devotional to the 60s idea of The Future, which appears to have disappeared. But it has at least one great virtue: you can't generally see it. This magnificent sculpture is in the middle of the Scary Tasmanian Traffic Circle With Stop Lights In It. All roads lead to this horror eventually, unless you plan carefully.
But the art itself is set down in a pedestrian underpass that is really nice; gets you through the worst traffic in town as if it weren't there. So well built you don't even hear the cars and trucks above. And you get this treat right in the middle! For some reason (perhaps having to do with drought) the Fountain Feature was not running.
After we had walked through this I opined to Ak that this was indeed the Seventh Circle Of Hell from underneath and she said 'no way.' But subsequent drives proved me right.
          Hah! Hah, English!
