We're on the way home, really. We had plans to see the dinosaur tracks on Sand Mountain outside Hurricane, but they don't call it Sand Mountain for nothing -- the poor Rav bogged down in foot-deep powder up a sharp slope, and we had to back out or die a thirsty death. On the way there I spotted a turnoff dirt road that might offer a good view of Zion National Park in the distance. Turned out to be pretty good, but I like it better with Ak in the frame. This is probably the best view I've seen of Zion. Some of the rocks are interesting up close, but it makes a more profound impression from afar. Hiking the narrows is great fun, though. And just like on our honeymoon, Zion is the last picture of the trip. Symmetry. |
