Happened across this charmer at Alum Rock Park October 30, 2003 while riding my bike up the Eagle Rock trail. It looked to be sleeping in the road, so I went a bit past it, put down the bike and got out the camera. But when I approached, it had a little bit of a fit and started to head off the trail fairly fast. Not an easy shot. Note the flattened skin behind the head, like a cobra. |
