My rain gauge showed just under 1.5 inches during the night and morning, then we got a break in the action. A great chance to race off to Alum Rock Park's entrance and see the creek run. But it being New Year's Day (low staffing?) and the creek not actually at flood stage, the park was open! Wow! In we go. This is your basic pullback shot of one stretch to show the violence. Ak got some pretty good movies that definitely let you know how loud the pounding water was. Also, something about the storm had excited the Eucalypts and moreso the Bay trees, and at places the smell was overpowering. I don't know what that was all about. 1 January 2004.
