Just before we decided to turn back, we came to this crossing, which gets pretty deep and has quite a strong current. I think we both agreed it was the toughest crossing. On the way back, I tried an even harder line, and had to hand dab twice to get across. The current is worse than it looks here, and you can easily see the wave it's forming at her legs. That paradise behind her is just that: an amazing sandbar forest in the middle of this canyon, completely isolated from everything ... except, of course, other hikers. Mostly we kept them out of the photos, but there were few moments in the entire passage where we were alone. Zion visitors are a hardy lot, it turns out. |
