Here Ak finally gave in and put on her jacket. These shots are both very good for showing the bottom of the river, and the footing we were dealing with. The fact that her legs look pretty good should be overlooked in the interest of science, or whatever. You will note that the passage is pretty wide most of the time. This was Ak's one disappointment: the photos she had seen gave the impression that this became a narrow slot canyon that you could barely get through. That, however, is probably just a trick of the photographer's art: this canyon is verrrry high, and it's possilbe to shoot it to look more narrow than it actually is. Not that I ever got around to making that point. Still, it's a spectacular hike, weird as it gets, and definitely "new stuff." | |
