At times, the real problem was with the narrowing canyon forcing the water into venturis that made for fast water. Combine that with the slick, uneven rocks on the bottom and you get some pretty tricky footing. Ak did not slip once during the entire trip, and we both got out of it with nothing worse than wet shoes (which were still wet when we got home to San Jose). It did require cautious travel, though. We were out there for something on the order of four hours, a lot of it like this. |
