It's The Water

The bend is scenic, but what struck me remarkable was the clarity of the water in a river known for its silt load. Ak's theory (I concur) is the dam that holds back Lake Powell also clears the silt, so for a while the Colorado clears.

It's one thing to know the gorge is narrow in places, but entirely another to look down on it and see such a deep, narrow cut. The dot in the river to the left-center is a largish tour boat we put there for scale.
